Many people ask about certain projects I have started over time. This page is dedicated to showing the progress made on those pieces. (Sometimes, not much progress is made.) The piece shows the start date and my estimation of completion. Check here often if you like to see pieces change over time. You can also see the process of moving a piece from a block of wood or a few lines on paper to the completed work.
This piece is a 10 foot tall rabbit. I started this piece in September of 2003. The first 2 photos show the tree stump that I started with. The stump is White Oak, it is 8 feet tall and I counted 137 rings before I started carving. I will add the rest of the ears to get the remaining 2 feet.
I have not been able to work on it straight through. At this point, I am about 1/2 of the way there. The second 2 photos show where the piece is as of February 1, 2004. You can start to see the shape of the rabbit now.
These show work done on 2/11/04. The head is starting to take shape now. However, he still needs to loose weight,
This piece is now completed. Please click on the "Relief Carving" Page link below to see the finished product.
This piece is a laminated 3D carving of a blue angel fish. I started it in January, 2003. It only has a few hours left on it before it goes to sanding. I just can't get motivated to finish this one.
This piece is a 3D carving of a lizard. I started this one several years ago and cut my hand pretty bad while working on it. I have not worked on it since.
